Golden Empire's Medicare Ratings

Dr. Claydon, Medical Director  Ratings

Golden Empire Nursing & Rehab Center was started by a group of physicians in 1973.  Their mission has not changed since then -- to provide the very best nursing and rehabilitative care to our geriatric population.  These caring physicians have managed our facility from its inception, and we continue to thrive and grow with their support and oversight.  Our Administrator, Vicki Young, works closely with them to have a facility that takes pride in our excellent nursing care.   The result: Golden Empire Nursing and Rehab earns 5 out of 5 stars in highly important private-industry and State-of-California and U.S. Federal-Government ratings.

Although we are one of the longest-existing facilities in town, we are constantly changing and improving and have embraced the concept of resident-centered care.  We want them to live in a beautiful home-like environment with plants, patios, dogs, cats, fish, birds and lots of fun things to do.

Our care ranges from the resident receiving rehabilitation services working toward returning home to the long-term resident who can't live at home any longer and needs our skilled level of care.  Our beautiful secured Alzheimer's Unit offers specialized care and activities to our residents with Alzheimer's Disease and other related dementias.

We are proud to have the only Pink Ladies Auxiliary in town, approximately 40 volunteers.  They are dedicated to making life more enjoyable for our residents and offer beauty shop services, church services, and have a ceramics studio complete with kiln.  In addition, they have provided a beautiful whirlpool, home theater, and fireplaces for the residents to enjoy.  There are many other events in which they spend time and effort to make our residents feel special, especially during the holidays.

Golden Empire offers extra services such as our Amenities Program, which is especially great for those families who can't be closer and want that special attention given to their loved one.  In addition, our Tender Touch massage program is available to all our residents.  Managed by a certified massage therapist, Golden Empire is the only skilled nursing facility in the Grass Valley area offering this integrative program, designed to improve the residents' quality of life.  We also have a van, equipped with a wheelchair lift, which is available for a fee to transport residents to appointments.

Our entire staff is dedicated to providing compassionate, skilled care while nurturing the social and spiritual well-being of our residents.  We pledge to treat each resident with respect and dignity while enriching their quality of life.

Testimonials

Dear Golden Empire,

There is no way to thank each and every one of you individually.  Thank you for your love and your care!

Everyone here is professional, compassionate and really wants the best for the patients.

If it were me, you would have a 10-Star rating.

Love to you all and thank you very much!

Dear ALL the nurses, angels, doctors and workers at Golden Empire.  I bet you thought I have forgotten you all.  It'll never happen.  I'm just getting a little slow and I think, a little old ;)

I will never forget all the kindness you all gave to Roscoe and me.

May God always take care of you.

Love and God Bless,

Nora Kennedy

Dear ALL the Golden Empire Staff:

I want to take a few minutes to thank each and every one of you for the fine care you provided my mom, Jo Shaffer, during her last months of her life.

It is VERY tempting to start to list people I interacted with most and speak of how kind they were to mom and to me.  And, I trust you all know who you are.

But here is the thing, what about the night staff who helped mom during a bad night, or the person who made her food, or did her laundry.  The person who paid the extra few minutes of attention or had a smile of tenderness when mom was having a bad day and was grumpy.  I don't know all of your names.

So, instead of naming names I'll offer a sincere, heartfelt and grateful thank you to all of you.  Mom, like many people, wondered what her final weeks and day would be like.  I can't imagine a more compassionate staff.

From the administrator to the cook to billing, from the head nurse to the aide to the office staff, from the janitorial and maintenance staff to physical therapy and ALL the other jobs I have forgotten or I am not even aware of, thanks for all you did.

Sincerely

Gregory Shaffer
