Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital has been providing quality nursing care in Nevada County for over 30 years. Due to the increase in Alzheimer’s Disease and other related dementias, and the fact that these residents require a very different environment and care, we have added a specialized unit to care for these individuals. Not only is the physical environment designed to minimize confusion for the residents, but the care is specifically geared to their individual needs.

The unit is staffed with specially trained Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants who work closely with other staff members such as Physical Therapists, Activity Director, Social Service personnel, and the Medical Director (Physician) who is available 24 hours a day.

Progress Evaluation

Activities are individualized for each resident according to their abilities. Each resident is evaluated on an ongoing basis by an interdisciplinary team of health care professionals such as a Psychiatrist, Pharmacologist, Physical Therapist, Social Service personnel, Activity Director, Licensed Nurse, Medical Director, and the resident’s individual physician. Once a plan has been developed, it becomes the road map guiding the daily decision concerning each resident. This helps create the best possible physical and emotional environment.

Both the building and grounds have been designed with the safety and enjoyment of the residents in mind. The garden and patios are secure and protected in a discreet, but effective way. The patio and gazebo are natural places for family and friends to visit.
