Pink Ladies
The purpose of the Auxiliary is to improve the residents' quality of life, as well as giving them special attention and TLC. Auxiliary members encourage all residents to take part in the services and activities they make possible.
Through the generosity of Golden Empire, we have a Pamper Parlor (Beauty Shop) where our residents may have their hair styled or permed and nails painted.
All supplies for the following activities are provided (at no cost to the residents) by the Auxiliary through moderate annual membership dues, the sale of ceramics, contributions and memorials from generous family members. Bingo, Tea Parties and Ice Cream Socials are just some of the fun activities available in our spacious main dining area.
Annual Ice Cream Social
Each June the Pink Ladies Auxiliary hosts an ice cream social for the residents. It is held in the main dining room and on the patio, with live entertainment and carnival style decorations.
Monthly Birthday Party and Other Activities
The Pink Ladies host many activities, such as monthly birthday parties. The Pink Ladies often assist in serving the cake and ice cream and getting residents to and from their rooms. They also help with other events, including taking residents to the Nevada County Fair in August, where they can see their ceramics on display. Golden Empire has an annual Seniors Ball, complete with a live band. The residents dress up for the occasion and dance the night away. It is an eagerly anticipated event. Our Dietary Department furnishes a special monthly birthday dinner for the residents and their families. As with all of our activities, the Auxiliary, Administrator, Dietary Department, and Activities Director all work in very close harmony with each other.
Beauty Shop
The Beauty Shop is where the Pink Ladies
host their Pamper Parlor. The Beauty Shop is here to make residents
feel well taken care of and special. We try our best to make them feel
appreciated and cared for, and they seem to really like the extra TLC.
Bingo
The volunteer Pink Ladies conduct the game and
assist the residents in finding the numbers on their cards. Prizes are
provided by the Auxiliary and through donations from families and
friends. Items such as: Perfume, jewelry, stationery, candy, etc. are
among the most popular items. This is a very popular activity.
Ceramics
Ceramic articles are made by volunteers.
They pour the molds, clean and prepare the pieces for firing. Residents
do the painting and glazing, making two pieces, one for themselves to
use as gifts, the other to be sold by the Auxiliary. Ceramic articles
are shown in display cases in the entrance area.
There are two
annual sales, one at Easter and another at Halloween; both sales are
open to the public. The proceeds of all sales are used for needed
supplies and added to the general treasury. Residents often make gifts
for their families and friends.
